Cold film laminating has grown increasingly popular as the variety of inks used by printers has meant that there are some that are heat sensitive and therefore hot roll laminating would be unsuitable. Cold film laminate is well suited to use with heat sensitive paper. 
Be aware that Cold PSA (pressure sensitive adhesive) Films are normally more expensive than thermal or hot laminating films.

Cold film laminate is very popular within the print industry for this very reason and the advantage of cold laminate films is that the operating costs are significantly reduced because machines are less complex, require less energy to operate and can be used instantly without having any lag-time that must be allowed for hot roll machines to warm-up. Although the film is the most costly of all the laminating films available on the market, this cost is off-set by the savings made in operation. Easy to use and manipulate, the fact that no heat is used prevents the occurrence of any heat effects including rippling, warping or bubbling.
The film is pressure sensitive, the adhesive is activated when pressure is applied to it. A high performance film suitable for a wide variety of applications, find confidence in a film that will work for you without proving to be more hassle than it's worth. It is important to note however that set-up times for Cold PSA Films are relatively longer than for thermal or hot laminating films.
